Day 16 Moscow Diary

Last day!

semi-overcast 21 °C

Hey all,

Spent this morning chilling out and trying to get mums ankle to retutn to a normal size as it had swelled up again! Went to Subway for lunch and had fun trying to order with limited communication. I opted for turkey and cheese, mum choose ham. Both our sandwiches were then put in the oven which mum looked horrified about! We then chose our salad which consisted of pointing and saying dar or niyet! The outcome was delicious! We thought it was be nice to find a shady spot next to a local statute, but the whole area was covered in pigeon shit! Found a safe spot round the corner.

Nicky - as requested, your postcard of the Kremlin is now in the post! I think i put it in a postbox, but it was rather dodgy looking! If you haven't recieved it in 3 weeks i might have made a slight mistake!

We bought sparking water today instead of still - again! Not impressed!

After lunch we went to the Red Square, GUM department store and St Basils. Also saw Lenin's mausoleum, but it was closed, he must be having a treatment! Saint Basils is fabulous on the outside, but rubbish on the inside! Big disappointment. Outside the red square there is a gold marker called point zero, where distances from Moscow are measured. This is another plavce where people throw coins, and local hobos pocket them!

Sat drinking beer on the balcony at the minute watching lots of smoke billowing from behind the church. Found online this is a peat fire, similar to last summer. It's definitely time to leave! Will post some pics of the smoke!

This is our last blog. Hope you have all enjoyed keeping up with us! It's been fun to write.

Thanks to those who left comments! Its been great hearing from you xxx

Home tomorrow! See you all soon!
