Day 16 Moscow Diary

Last day!

semi-overcast 21 °C

Hey all,

Spent this morning chilling out and trying to get mums ankle to retutn to a normal size as it had swelled up again! Went to Subway for lunch and had fun trying to order with limited communication. I opted for turkey and cheese, mum choose ham. Both our sandwiches were then put in the oven which mum looked horrified about! We then chose our salad which consisted of pointing and saying dar or niyet! The outcome was delicious! We thought it was be nice to find a shady spot next to a local statute, but the whole area was covered in pigeon shit! Found a safe spot round the corner.

Nicky - as requested, your postcard of the Kremlin is now in the post! I think i put it in a postbox, but it was rather dodgy looking! If you haven't recieved it in 3 weeks i might have made a slight mistake!

We bought sparking water today instead of still - again! Not impressed!

After lunch we went to the Red Square, GUM department store and St Basils. Also saw Lenin's mausoleum, but it was closed, he must be having a treatment! Saint Basils is fabulous on the outside, but rubbish on the inside! Big disappointment. Outside the red square there is a gold marker called point zero, where distances from Moscow are measured. This is another plavce where people throw coins, and local hobos pocket them!

Sat drinking beer on the balcony at the minute watching lots of smoke billowing from behind the church. Found online this is a peat fire, similar to last summer. It's definitely time to leave! Will post some pics of the smoke!

This is our last blog. Hope you have all enjoyed keeping up with us! It's been fun to write.

Thanks to those who left comments! Its been great hearing from you xxx

Home tomorrow! See you all soon!

Day 15 Moscow Diary

The Kremlin

semi-overcast 24 °C

Hello people!

Today was fabulous! Went to the Kremlin, its massive inside the red walls! There are 4 churches inside, one if them has the tombs of previous Tsars! Went into the Chamber of Amoury, that was pretty awesome, they had clothes, jewellery, carriages, silver and gold items, thrones and even stuffed horses! Decided not to go into the diamond fund though because you had to pay extra and it had already cost us 2100 roubles for entry tickets. Saw the Ivan bell tower, the bell is now on display with a huge chunk missing from it. Check out the pictures! All in all The Kremlin is a fab experience!

Yet again its been really hot today! We were both pretty exhausted by the end of touring the Kremlin. Will be checking out Red Square, St Basil's and GUM department store tomorrow, then home on tuesday!

By for now!

Day 14 Moscow Diary

Sightseeing

sunny 28 °C

Hello!

Went to visit our local church, very nice! The Church of our Saviour was blown up by Lenin, and has been completley rebuilt. Its the biggest church in Russia! It is really hot here, so didn't do much else besides wander round during the day!

Once it had cooled down in the evening, went for a stroll down Old Arbat, which is a big street full of street artists and musicians! Also loads of souvenier shops, most of which had a 50% discount on everything. Bought some cool stuff including a russian hat, doll and vodka! The street is gorgeous!

On way home went for a few pints and got into big argument with the waiters over the bill! Not the best end to a fantastic day!

The Kremlin was ridiculously busy by the afternoon so we have decided to go early today before the coach loads of tour groups arrive! Also very excited about seeing Lenin's body!

Blog later xxx

Day 13 Moscow Diary

Chill out day

semi-overcast 22 °C

Priviet folks!

We're in Moscow! Yay! Siestered when we got to the apartment as only got a few hours sleep on the train! It didn't set off until midnight! Woke up around 1pm, chilled, and had a bath in brown water! Strange experience, kinda ming! We went for a walk to find our local amenities and discovered our apartment is in a really nice neighbouthood. Went shopping and decided to have pizza and drink beer on the balcony tonight. We are currently watching the sun set. Check the pics out of Moscow by day and by night! Its pretty fabulous.

We sat down to enjoy our pizza and chips earlier, the pizza was nice, but base a bit crispy! Chips didn't turn out very well, resembled cardboard. Mum chipped her tooth on the base we think, although it could of been a chip!

Mum got bitten by a mosquito at some point on her ankle, then developed a rash, then it became swollen last night. This morning a blister appeared which has been growing for most of the day. Have put a picture on for you! Don't worry we've popped it now!

Off to visit the Kremlin tomorrow! Can't wait, very excited!
